Position:  Senior Buyer
Location: DRT, San Diego

 
DR Technologies, Inc. (www.drtechnologies.com) is a rapidly growing company located in San Diego and Anaheim CA, specializing in the design and fabrication of engineered composite structures for the aerospace industry.  DR Technologies was recently named by the San Diego Business Journal to the annual list of 100 fastest-Growing Private Companies for the second year in a row.  We are currently seeking a Senior Buyer to support our rapidly growing business at our San Diego Facility. 
 
We are looking an employee who will take personal responsibility for making our company a success through innovative cost savings and insuring timely support of the companies programs. 
 
Responsibilities
:

The Senior Buyer will be responsible for supplier management of the companys critical suppliers.  The Senior Buyer will issue Request for Quotes, evaluate supplier proposals and work with the program team to select the best value supplier.  The Senior Buyer will negotiate price, terms, and schedules.  Regularly interacts with suppliers, program team and functional peer groups. Interaction normally requires the ability to gain the cooperation of others.  Follows up on placed orders to assure timely delivery and product shipment.  Exercise discretion and independent judgment with respect to matters of significance.  Communicate information through the use of written or verbal reports; excel spreadsheets, and correspondence to superiors, peers, other affected corporate functions, and supplier.  Support proposal pricing as required.
 
Education/Experience:

  • The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years of composites procurement experience in the Aerospace industry. 
  • A bachelors degree with a focus in business, economics or technical curriculum related to assigned commodities. Specific purchasing experience may be considered in lieu of education.
  • Strong interpersonal skills requiring the ability to resolve conflicting interests and obtain cooperation
  • Quality systems awareness
  • Negotiating skills and demonstrated solid decision making skills
  • Experience utilizing purchasing software
  • Knowledge of U.S. Government regulations (FAR)
  • Ability to read engineering drawings a plus. Understanding of ITAR regulations desired.
  • QuickBooks experience is a plus.

Position: PRINCIPAL INVESTIGATOR

Location: San Diego, CA

The Principal Investigator is responsible for bidding, winning and executing research and development programs that advance the component and subsystem technologies consistent with the Space Power, Optics and Thermal Products Business Area goals and strategies. The PI also acts as a program manager for R&D and pilot production programs, managing the cost, schedule, and technical execution from inception to completion. This position is responsible for all essential technical and programmatic functions. Technical functions include performance of tradeoffs and conceptual designs, defining and monitoring the work of support engineering design and analysis personnel, defining and monitoring demonstration hardware builds and testing, and preparing technical documentation. Programmatic functions include estimation of the scope of effort and associated proposal preparation, preparation of a program plan including the project schedule and budgets, assessing program risks and implementing appropriate risk mitigations, serving as the primary contact to the customer, preparing and leading customer briefings, and developing follow-on business opportunities.

Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of spacecraft components and subsystems, and the role of composite materials in them.
  • Proficiency in word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software, such as MSOffice.
  • Familiarity with research and development techniques such as monte-carlo simulation or other modeling, design of experiment, qualification testing and traceability, and performance and environmental durability test approaches.
  • Ability to set up, manage and execute applied research programs developing components and subsystems, and transitioning the technology into practical producible products.
  • Strong history of effective leadership through communicating, motivating, inspiring, and rewarding individuals and teams.
  • Successful track record of managing complex programs and meeting all program objectives including cost, schedule, quality, and customer satisfaction.
  • Demonstrated understanding and experience in leading and managing pursuits and proposals for large, complex programs.
  • Proven ability to work effectively with customers, large prime contractors, suppliers, business partners, in addition to company senior management.

Due to government contracts, candidate must be a US citizen or permanent resident.

Education/Experience:

Bachelors or Masters Degree in engineering (mechanical, electrical, material science or aerospace) or physics. Minimum 5 years relevant experience as a Program Manager or as a Project Engineer/ Project Manager for spacecraft programs involving advanced solar photovoltaic panels, lightweight optics, thermal control components and/or advanced composite structures.

 

Position: COMPOSITE OPERATIONS MANAGER

Location: Dayton, OH

Composite Operations Manager – Fabrication, Equipment, Inventory Control

Manage and improve production operations to ensure on-time/on-budget delivery of quality Vector products.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Participates in technical projects within an engineering or scientific specialty
  • Collaborates in product development with multi-disciplinary project teams
  • Maintain facilities and equipment to support uninterrupted production flow.
  • Responsible for completing work on time and within budget
  • Establish technical requirements for product development and manufacture.
  • Good understanding and Use of Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing tools for production part applications.
  • Capable of reading and understanding customer drawings.
  • Leads the development of technical reports and presentations
  • Understand the ISO-9000 and AS-9100 Quality system.
  • Conducts planning for manufacturing ,testing and analysis tasks
  • May act as program manager for customer programs
  • Regularly interfaces with suppliers and customers
  • Participates in business development activities, including marketing initiatives and proposal preparation

Minimum Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor degree in a pertinent technical discipline and 5 years experience, or equivalent
  • Proficiency in MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint
  • Proficiency with Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing software Tools.
  • Familiarity with Advanced composite materials and processes
  • Demonstrated oral and written communication skills
  • Experience with Composite processing NC controlled Equipment and maintenance requirements.
