The Director of Solar Array Products is responsible for transitioning
solar array technology developed in the SPOT Business Area into
production level of flight qualified advanced solar panel and
solar array subsystems. The Director -
- Has P&L
responsibility for solar panel and solar array flight products
- Oversees
the marketing activity to develop the customer and program
base for SPOT’s solar panel and solar array technology
- Develops
and manages key teammates and subcontractors for supporting
marketing, proposal and production efforts
- Grows
and manages the Solar Array Products group within SPOT, including
developing the personnel plan, hiring and maintaining key
personnel for engineering, production and line management
functions

and manages a world-class solar panel integration facility
- Oversees

Essential

- Responsible
for solar array group strategic planning documents –
Marketing Plan, Capex/Facility Plan, Personnel Plan, and Program
Management & Execution Plan, Quality Assurance / Continuous
Improvement, and others as required
- Provides
input to SPOT’s R&D plan to direct technology development
to support enhanced marketability and performance of the solar
panel and solar array products – provides the approach
for transitioning technology to production including oversight
on qualification plans and manufacturing and test plans.
- Assures
that program cost, schedule, and technical requirements are
managed by the PM’s in compliance with company standards
to insure that customer requirements are met.
- Serve
as a high visibility focal point for customers and for establishing
a rapport of trust and understanding between DR and its customers.
- Work
with customers to determine needs, requirements, and solutions
for new research and development opportunities including pursuit
team leadership and management.

| Position:
PRINCIPAL INVESTIGATOR
Location:
San Diego, CA
The Principal
Investigator is responsible for bidding, winning and executing
research and development programs that advance the component
and subsystem technologies consistent with the Space Power,
Optics and Thermal Products Business Area goals and strategies.
The PI also acts as a program manager for R&D and pilot
production programs, managing the cost, schedule, and technical
execution from inception to completion. This position is responsible
for all essential technical and programmatic functions. Technical
functions include performance of tradeoffs and conceptual designs,
defining and monitoring the work of support engineering design
and analysis personnel, defining and monitoring demonstration
hardware builds and testing, and preparing technical documentation.
Programmatic functions include estimation of the scope of effort
and associated proposal preparation, preparation of a program
plan including the project schedule and budgets, assessing program
risks and implementing appropriate risk mitigations, serving
as the primary contact to the customer, preparing and leading
customer briefings, and developing follow-on business opportunities.
Qualifications:
- Knowledge

- Has full
responsibility for solar panel, solar concentrator and solar
array flight product system engineering, mechanical design

- Acts
as engineering liaison to the program office, the manufacturing
